Glitter + Gold

Sequin Top: Express, Jeans: Aeropostale, Orange wedges: Zara. Handbag: Michael Kors, Hat: Banana Republic, sunglasses: RayBan. Gold earrings: Vince Camuto.

I love being back home because I get to spend loads of quality time with my family. It’s been a long time since I’ve been back to Charlotte, NC and I’m loving ever second of it! My family and I traveled to Whiteville, NC  to celebrate my grandmother’s birthday, so I wanted to wear something comfy, but festive in preparation for the party. Orange is going to be a color I will be wearing throughout the summer because it looks good with my skin tone and its vibrant. This season I’m seeing so many trends with ultra bright colors, which makes me happy because I love colorful clothing. My uncle and cousin joined in on the fun, this weekend showed me there’s nothing in the world like being with your family.

Way on the Westside

Denim jacket: Gap, Black Shirt: Zara, Floral pants: Zara, Black Floppy Boots: Steve Madden, Watch: Michael Kors, Charm bracelet: Juicy Couture, Bangles: JC Penny, Black Bag: Michael Kors, Sunglasses: Ray Ban.

My friend Gustavo (who shot my pics) is a fashion photographer who recently moved to NYC and we found this cool spot in Jersey while enjoying the view of NYC. We wanted to go down to the pier, which seems to look study from the pic, but had eroded closer to the shore. A cool back drop for a photo shoot, but the only way to get on the pier is by boat and I bet someone purposely destroyed that part of it so no one could get on it for safety reasons. Gustavo said this part of Jersey reminds him of Atlanta, which made me smile because I have Georgia on my mind for upcoming trips.

Watch Out

It has been over five years since I’ve worn a watch on my wrist. Not because I don’t own any watches, I just became accustomed to not wearing a watch and leaned more to wearing cocktail rings and bracelets. Ever since touch screen phones were created, I always checked the time on my cell phone. I can recall during my short time at SCAD Atlanta back in 2007, listening to a speaker at an event discussing how retail companies were thinking of creative ways to get the younger generation to wear watches. When she asked how many students used their cell phones to check the time, everyone raised their hands. In my mind, I remember being in high school wearing a watch and technology seemed to just push the necessity of a cool watch to the side.

Now it’s 2012 and it seems like every where I turn, someone is wearing a Michael Kors watch. I saw the trend a few years back, but now there’s so many women wearing a big MK gold watch around their wrist. That’s when I realized Michael Kors was the brand that brought back the desire to wear a watch on a regular basis, at least for those who got caught up in using their iPhone. I love their watch designs, but I waited until this Spring to get the Michael Kors Tribeca Tortoise watch and I absolutely love it! The sales lady at their store told me that Fossil is actually the manufacturer, which didn’t surprise me because I used to wear Fossil watches years ago.

Black on Black

Urban Outfitter Sunglasses, Forever 21 earrings, Zara asymmetrical dress, H&M long sleeve shirt, Zara belt, Michael Kors watch, Jessica Simpson leopard wedges and Aldo patent leather clutch.

I recently purchased these Jessica Simpson leopard wedges and tried them out for the first time today and I love the texture and comfort of the shoe. The material on the inside of the shoes are quality, and my feet didn’t slide towards the front of the shoe, which is impressive because I’m wearing stockings. Today, I was on a hunt for some bold color flats, and I went inside Nordstrom’s because I really love their shoe selection. The sales guy who was helping me told me, “Ah, you’re very selective and you want color, you look like the fun type.” In my mind, I’m thinking “Of course I want a fun, bold trendy shoe, why not?  I didn’t find the pointy toe flat in a bold color in my size at the store, but I will stay focus on my hunt for a “comfortable” candy color flat.
